DID YOU KNOW?

As early care and education providers, the outcomes described in the Early Learning Coordination Plan exist both for your benefit and thanks to your dedicated work. Below are key strategies the ELCP has identified to help improve your experience and services in the early learning system.

WELL-BEING

  • Improving compensation to ensure wages and benefits account for workers’ education and experience in the field, and move toward pay parity across early learning and K-12.

  • Increasing funding for and capacity to provide additional health and mental health supports for early learning professionals.

ACCESS

  • Increasing diversity in the workforce so children and families experience providers who look and sound like them.

  • Forging new partnerships and creating new resources to better serve rural communities.

  • Enhancing supports that address the overwhelming costs of providing quality care.

  • Transforming and expanding pathways into the workforce and for career advancement.

TRAINING

  • Overcoming current barriers, including language, technology, and location through updated training solutions.

  • Providing new training and supports to deliver culturally responsive, trauma-informed care.

  • Ensuring the workforce can support children with diverse developmental needs and families who need healing-centered support.

COLLABORATION

  • Sharing educators’ and care providers’ perspectives in co-designing and co-developing a more equitable early learning system.

  • Increasing opportunities for providers and care centers to collaborate with regional and local organizations to enhance services.

I want families and providers to have what they need to support the children of Washington state.
